NOTE: The refilling procedure requires making a few holes in the cartridge. An electric drill is not recommended; it is much easier and highly recommended that you use our specialized toner holemaking tool.

The Q7553A (53A) and Q7553X (53X) cartridges have a chip that indicates the toner level. If you do not replace this chip, the printer will always tell you that your cartridge is "empty". The printer can operate without a new chip, but it will be impossible to know the level of toner. It is recommended to change this chip with each refill. See "Reset Chips".
